Recently I was at a certain chain of coffee shops (that won’t be named) and I noticed on their stirring stick this cute little girl mermaid. She had a big super friendly smile on her cartoonish plastic face and I thought, “how Disney”. Even though I didn’t go for her apparent demeanor I did like how she was displayed coming up and out of the water. If I were given the chance to design their logo’s motif there would be skinny, fat, tall, ugly, mean, beautiful, innocent, old, tough, and male mermaids adorning everyone’s coffee cups. This sculpture’s title will be, “Ocean Blue…i’ll rise again”.
